Luke Jones made history in 2010 when he became the first forward in Australian rugby history to sign a professional contract while still at school. The St.Pius X lock / back-rower was just 18 when he made his Super Rugby debut for the Western Force. He moved to the Melbourne Rebels as a foundation player in 2011 and won the Rebel Rising Player of the Year award in his debut season.
In 2014, Jones made his Wallaby debut against France in Melbourne. Jones left Australia to join the Bordeaux-Begles on a two-year deal at the end of the 2016 season.
Represented Australian Schools and was chosen in the squad to tour Tonga and New Zealand.
Represented Australian Schools against Tongan Schools and New Zealand Schools. Selected in the squad to tour Ireland and the United Kingdom. Jones won a total of eight Schools’ Test caps.
Selected in the Australian squad for the third IRB U20s Junior World Championships in Japan.
Jones won his first Test cap off the bench when he replaced James Horwill in the 2nd Test, 6-0 victory over France in Melbourne. Selected in the Wallaby squad for the end-of-season Spring Tour he won a further two caps including his first and only run-on XV appearance at flanker against Ireland in Dublin.
