Arthur Victor Thomas Nicholas Micha Cornwall Mayne

Mayne played for Shore first XV 1913-4-5, GPS first XV 1914, Glebe-Balmain, NSW, and Waratahs. Regarded as quick and high-stepping, he had been a consistent scorer of tries and kicker of goals for both Shore and the Glebe-Balmain Club. His four tries for the Club against North Sydney in 1921 set a new club record. ‘Cocky’ Mayne played three matches for Australia against AIF teams in 1919, in the first two of which he scored tries.

In 1920 he was chosen on the wing in four Tests for New South Wales - games declared retrospectively to be Test Matches. He played in all three Tests against New Zealand at Sydney Sports Ground in 1920; the first, on 24 July, won by New Zealand 26-15, the second, on 31 July , won by New Zealand 14-6, and the third, on 7 August , won by New Zealand 24-13. His last Test on 24 June, 1922, at Sydney RAS Showground , was against the Maori who won 25-22. Mayne was injured and retired after the game. He became a referee and controlled 18 representative games, including six tests.
