Blake Enever was a Queensland-born lock with a high work rate, strong lineout skills and good speed around the park.
A product of Buderim, Enever was educated at Sunshine Coast Grammar School where he played two years in the 1st XV (2007-08). He also ran around at club level for the local Stingrays RC, debuting in the U15s. Although selected for Combined Secondary Schools, Enever was overlooked for the state side.
After school, he remained loyal to the Rays, graduating from colts to the premiership (2009-11) from where he represented Australia when they finished third at the U20 Junior World Championship. Enever then moved to Brisbane, joined Easts and was a member of the victorious 2013 Hospital Cup side that defeated GPS 27-22. During his time with the Tigers (2012) Enever earned his first senior representative rugby selection, for Queensland in their 32-17 away win against the Melbourne Rebels. The following year he started for Combined Country against the British & Irish Lions in Newcastle (L 0-64).
A strong 2014 National Rugby Championship with Queensland Country was then followed by a move to the ACT Brumbies. In 2015, Enever again debuted against the Rebels and quickly went on to firmly establish himself within the Brumbies match day squad. Following injuries to Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Izack Rodda, Enever and fellow uncapped Western Force lock Matt Philip, were surprise selections for the Wallabies’ 2017 Spring Tour. When Adam Coleman was ruled out of the Test against England with a thumb injury, Enever was called in from outside the match day squad to make his Test debut on the hallowed turf of Twickenham.
In 2021, Enever played a single COVID-disrupted season in the U.K. Premiership with Leicester. He then returned to the Sunshine Coast with his young family and in 2026 is set to enjoy his fourth season as a player/coach with the Caloundra Lighthouses.
