Nick Cummins, a.k.a. the “Honey Badger”, was one of Australian rugby’s true larrikins.

Born in Port Macquarie but educated in Brisbane, Cummins wicked sense of humour and cheeky one-liners made him a veritable cult hero among fans.

He joined the fledgling Western Force Super Rugby franchise in 2008 and two years later emerged from the 2010 Commonwealth Games as a silver medallist with the Australian Men’s 7s team.

His big break, at national level, came in 2012 when he made his Test debut against Argentina in Rosario. In 2014, Cummins parted ways with Australian Rugby on compassionate grounds. He abandoned his blossoming international career to travel to Japan, where he signed with Coca Cola West Red Sparks, after he learned that his father had incurable prostate cancer.

In early 2016 he re-joined the Australian Sevens program with the goal of making the Olympic Games team for Rio de Janiero however that ambition was cruelled by injury.

In his post-playing career the 15 Test winger is a much sought after guest speaker personality.
