Biography

Syd Miller was a three-quarter who played with the Randwick club from 1897 to 1899, and who represented NSW 13 times in those three years, nine times against Queensland, twice against Charters Towers and once each against Toowoomba and a Queensland Second Fifteen. In those 13 games he scored 15 tries, then worth 45 points. He was a fast, elusive runner in his grade games and for NSW.

He was a member of the Metropolis (Sydney) side which defeated the 1899 touring Great Britain side by eight points to five and, on the strength of his play that day, was selected in the Australian side which played in the fourth and final Test against the tourists.

He was the first of a long line of Randwick players to represent his country.
