Timothy Mark Wallace

Tim Wallace was a talented fly half, both with ball in hand and on the foot, who spent much of his career in the shadow of the great Michael Lynagh. Born in Sydney, Wallace’s first secondary school was the King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys in Birmingham, U.K. When he returned to Australia, Wallace attended Barker College where he played two years in the school’s 1st XV. In 1988 he joined the Gordon and a year later made his first grade club rugby debut.

He won selection for Australian U21s in 1990 and in 1992 toured with the Wallabies to the U.K. without having played a representative match for his state. In 1993, Wallace debuted for New South Wales against the ACT in Canberra and was picked in the Australian squad for the end-of-season tour to North America and France. A year later Wallace made his Test debut against Italy in Brisbane.

Wallace won his first Test cap off the bench at flyhalf when he replaced Michael Lynagh in the 23-20, 1st Test win over Italy in Brisbane. A week later, and with Lynagh ruled out due to a thigh injury, he made his run-on XV debut at No.10 in the 20-17, 2nd Test victory in Melbourne.
