An interview with Classic Wallaby #466 Rob Heming, conducted by Gordon Bray and produced by Theo Clark Media.

Rob Heming played 21 Tests for Australia in a seven-year international career. He was recognised as the greatest line-out jumper in the world during the period he played international rugby. He ensured the Wallabies’ possession from a set piece from which they struggled to do prior his arrival on the Test stage in 1961.

In ‘The Top 100 Wallabies’ written by Peter Jenkins, Heming was selected by a panel of seven, including five Wallabies, at number 23 and the second row partner of John Eales in the Top XV.

Highlights: Classic Wallabies at Beef Australia 2021

Classic Wallabies Digby Ioane, Nick Frisby, Lote Tuqiri, Lachie Turner and Morgan Turinui plus Classic Wallaroos players Shirley Russell and Selena Tranter ventured to Central Queensland in May 2021 to visit schools and clubs. In the lead up to the Wallabies first match of the 2019 Rugby World Cup against Fiji in Sapporo, Classic Wallabies Matt Cockbain, Morgan Turinui and Lote Tuqiri spent a couple of days in Niseko to teach local students all about rugby union.
Watch this video to get an insight into their school visit, including:
- showing students how to hop like a kangaroo
- teaching some fundamental skills and aspects of rugby union such as line outs and teamwork
- enjoying lunch in the classrooms with students
- students singing happy birthday to Lote Tuqiri!
Whilst in Niseko the Classics enjoyed an evening in Kumo Restaurant at Skye Niseko, where they met a heap of rugby fans visiting the region. We were surprised and delighted to see so many Wallabies fans visiting the town in the traditional off-season.
The visit to Niseko was part of the Classic Wallabies community engagement program, aimed at increasing awareness and understanding in Japan about rugby union, and encouraging support of the Wallabies.

It was a momentous day in Musashino as Wallabies legend George Smith made his Classic Wallabies debut in their inaugural match against Classic Japan.

Former Wallabies greats Justin Harrison, Morgan Turinui and Lote Tuqiri visited Samoa in August 2019 to run clinics in local schools and tourist hotspots to promote the game and further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
The trip was in partnership with the Australian Government and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and supports Australia’s stepped up engagement with its partners in the region, by forming friendships and creating opportunities for Samoans through sport.

1999 World Cup winner Matt Cockbain was joined by Classic Wallaby Adam Freier and Wally on the roof of Adelaide Oval this morning.  Cockbain played at the iconic venue in the 2003 World Cup and has joined up with the Gold Blooded Tour.
