The Australian Rugby community is mourning the loss of David John Bedgood, who passed away on Saturday, aged 86.
A flanker / No. 8 out of Brisbane’s famed Anglican Grammar School (‘Churchie’) and the University of Queensland, Bedgood played the first of his 10 state matches in 1958 when the Reds defeated Victoria 17-14.
The following year Bedgood won selection for Australia as a reserve in the 2nd Test against the British Lions at the Sydney Sports Ground however, he was not called upon to play during the course of that match.
An uncapped Wallaby, and Queensland Red #699, Bedgood will be remembered as a great and devoted rugby man.
